Sherlock Holmes, instantly identifiable by his silhouette alone, has appeared more times on-screen than any other fictional character. Created just before the birth of cinema, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's detective has packed in cinema-goers across the world, and has been the subject of movies not only in his native Britain and in Hollywood, but in countries as diverse as Spain, Russia, Hungrary and Japan.

This collection features two incarnations of the master sleuth, beginning with the great Basil Rathbone as Holmes and Nigel Bruce as the ever-faithful Dr. Watson in four films that thrilled wartime audiences. Also included are five episodes from "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes," the television series which originally aired in 1954 and starred Ronald Howard as Holmes and H. Marion Crawford as Dr. Watson.

These Spellbinding mysteries stay true to the original stories by Sir Arthor Conan Doyle and are an absolute must-have for "whodunit" fans.

Disc 3

This collection of television shows, starring Ronald Howard as Holmes and H. Marion Crawford as Dr. Watson, originally aired in 1954. Set in Victorian England in the 1800s, the series was filmed in France with an American cast. True to the spirit of the characters created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Holmes and Watson work their way through puzzling mysteries, relying on deductive reasoning and scientific methods to solve crimes that leave the police baffled.

Extremely entertaining and masterfully directed and produced, this relatively short-lived series is the only American produced depiction of the master sleuth ever brought to the small screen.

Episodes:
The Case of the Blind Man's Bluff
The Case of Harry Crocker
The Case of the Baker Street Bachelors
The Case of the Baker Street Nursemaids
The Case of the Christmas Pudding
