Born on January 8, 1935, Elvis Presley grew up in an average southern household. When he was 13, his family moved to Memphis, where he later worked as an usher and a truck driver. Though he always had an interest in music, his big break into the business happened by accident. As a birthday gift for his mother, Elvis went to Sun Records to record a song for her. The studio's owner, Sam Phillips, was so impressed that he asked Elvis to come back and record a few songs for him. From these humble beginning, a legend was born.
