It took Neil Diamond three tries before he became a successful singer on record but by that time in 1966 his mastery of pop had already made him a figure to watch. And as a singer/songwriter, Diamond has become a genuine superstar over the past thirty years. Born in Brooklyn in 1941, Diamond began writing songs while still in high school.
