Jed Clampett first fired his squirrel rifle and struck oil back on September 26, 1962. The story of this simple backwoods family and their hilarious relocation from the hills of Appalachia to Beverly Hills captured the imagination of the TV watching public. The Beverly Hillbillies was a hit from the first show until its amazing run ended, nine seasons later. Number one in its first two seasons, the show attracted as many as 60 million viewers a week.

Granny, Jed, Elly May and Jethro Bodine brought their country values to Beverly Hills. Unfazed by their newfound wealth or by their ne community's shallowness, they remained true to themselves, and in the process entertained millions with their simple take on things.
